Rolling
Garment Bags
If
you've had several rolling garment bags before, then you'll know this,
but otherwise you'd be surprised not only at how easy they are to move
around the airport or wherever, but also how much they can hold. Check
out a couple of the pictures at the top of this to see.
Seriously, if you're just going to be gone for several days, this is
all you need. It can hold your clothes (better than a suitcase can),
and it will hold your toiletries too. Yeah, it's got pockets inside
that don't even come close to touching your garments.
Now, if you already know about rolling garment bags, then it's obvious
I don't need to convince you to check one out. You've seen the airline
pilots exiting with those funny looking suitcases. It's a rolling
garment bag. Yep!
They've known about them all along . . .
When you select one, be sure not to shop on price alone. When you're
pulling one behind you, you don't want to have problems with the wheels
or the handle. Definitely, quality counts on this.
On the flip side, if you're not a huge traveler then getting the most
expensive one won't by your top priority. A good mid-range rolling
garment bag will last for a couple of years if you're looking to not
break the bank.
So how much can you really fit into one of these things? For a normal
sized one, you can expect to fit in 3 to 4 suits. There were also be
numerous pockets with zippers that you can put things in. Provided you
are just going on a short business trip, you will have plenty of room.
But we're not done yet. You can also pack several pair of shoes, a pair
of boots, underwear, even make-up and the like.
After you've settled on quality and size, your next biggest choice will
be color. They come in many colors. Naturally, the most common color is
black. It's my favorite too. Again, imagine the pilot disembarking and
pulling a hot pink garment bag behind him. In general, as these are
used for business trips, stick to conservative colors.
In other words, think of a color that your boss or client wouldn't give
a second look at. That will also help protect you from luggage
thievery. Your black bundle will look just like all the others. It will
blend in. All the others looking exactly like it gives it a place to
hide.
In summary, as long as you are picking one that isn't the cheapest and
is the size you want, you should be good. Remember, you do get what you
pay for, and this is especially true for your garment bag on wheels.
(Yes, they do break – at the worst time. Can you tell it's happened to
me?)
Oh, and as I mentioned before, the handle can come off too. That is if
you buy the poorest quality. Spend a little extra money and get
something that will last for you more that just several trips.
